Ahh…there’s nothing like three days on the beach at our favorite campground in early October!
We were on site 15, which gave us a great ocean view. If you’ve been a regular reader of our blog since the early days, 1) you might want to find a better use of your time; and 2) you might remember our encounter with the rattlesnake on site 19 a few years back. No rattlesnake this time, but on our first day here we saw a blacksnake on two occasions. The second time we saw him, he stretched out on the rock next to our firepit for a few minutes, apparently enjoying the afternoon sun as much as we were. We took Zoe for her romp on the beach and watched her play tag with the incoming waves…speaking of, they were a bit on the wild side, and the red warning flag (high hazard, high surf and/or strong currents) was flying all three days.
Rick ran four miles each morning here, taking Zoe along for the first mile and a half. Zoe took another walk on the beach on Wednesday and touched noses with a Lab. The wind eased slightly, so we were able to put up our screen room where we read our books. On Wednesday night we walked to High Tides at Snack Jack for a great vegan burger and some cold liquid libation.
On our last full day we had another visitor, a hungry turtle who chomped on the vegetation on our campsite, even walked on our mat for a few feet, and had no cares that we were only feet away admiring him.
We were treated to great, nearly cloudless sunrises, and Linda captured them with her iPhone. Beautiful!
